This report dealt with the phytoplanktons collected during March∼May 1979 at ten stations in Yeongil Bay. As a result, 54 species of Chrysophyta, 8 species of Pyrrophyta and 3 species of Chlorophyta were indentified. Among them, Eucampia zodiacus, Nitzschia seriata, Ditylium brightwellii and Thalassionema nitzschioides were dominant in this area during spring season, whereas Ceratium tripos, Bacteriastrum varians, Chaetoceras convoltus, C. decipience, Pyrocystis noctiluca, Thalassiosira rotula and Corethron criophilum were uncommon. Eucampia zodiacus, Nitzschia seriata, Thalassiothrix nitzschioides, Thalassiosira decipiens, Nitzschia longissima and Ceratium tripos occurred abundantly with the D type larvae of scallop. Standing crop of phytoplanktons varied from 315×10 to 511.5×10^4 cells/㎥, showing the maximum in April.
